Duke Ellington was a master musician, whose unique approach to arrangement and composition was inspired by ragtime, New Orleans, swing and classical music.
Duke was constantly composing, anytime and anywhere, always taking into consideration the player himself and his larger place in the orchestra. Among his thousands of pieces one can find original scores and jazz adaptations of other musical styles, mainly classical music.
